In this unit, we will be diving into the world of music and drama.

MUSIC: Students will be immersed in music through singing and playing instruments. Students will learn basic music theory using Kodaly methods of solfège* and Froseth/Gordon rhythmic syllables**. They (and perhaps you) will learn different musical terms and come to understand the difference between major and minor tonalities. Students will also learn fun songs and rounds that they can share with their families. They will have a chance to experience playing several types of instruments including drums and boomwhackers***.

DRAMA: Students will also learn the basics of theater by writing and performing a one-act play. They will discuss and engage in blocking, costuming, prop selection, and character development.
